James Sunderland MP asked Scotland’s Secretary Alister Jack MP in Commons: “Given the minister’s assessment will he confirm that Scotland’s trade with the rest of the UK is worth more than three times that of the EU.
“This is only one of the benefits on offer on being part of the UK, not least for British firms.”
Scotland’s Secretary Alister Jack MP replied: “The Scottish Government’s shown figures so that Scotland’s most important trading partner is the rest of the UK.
“That is worth more three times than trade with the other 27 EU countries combined.
